Are you getting this NETFILE error while filing your tax return?

"The information sent to the Canada Revenue Agency doesn't match the information currently on record, which was provided by Service Canada."

This issue occurs when your personal details don’t match what the CRA has on file. Here’s how you can fix it:

1. Verify Your SIN and Name

Check that the Social Insurance Number (SIN) you entered in CloudTax matches your official SIN document exactly. Every letter in your First Name, Middle Name, and Last Name must be identical to what the CRA has on record.

👉 What if your first or last name is empty? Try entering "X" in the field and submitting your return again.

2. Confirm Your Date of Birth

Ensure your date of birth is correct on the PERSONAL INFORMATION page of CloudTax. Sometimes, the month and day get swapped, causing a mismatch.

3. Call the CRA

If the issue persists, contact the CRA to verify the exact first name, middle name, and last name they have on file. This will help ensure you enter the information correctly.

Still Stuck?

If you’re a CloudTax Plus user, we offer a complimentary E-FILE service to help you resolve CRA errors. Email us at [email protected] for assistance.

Looking for a Free Alternative?

You can always mail your tax return to the CRA if NETFILE errors prevent you from filing electronically.

💡 TIP: Once you've successfully filed your first return, you won’t run into this issue again in the future!
