If you see the error: Box 105 income reported, but T4A slip income type missing. Please specify.
it means your T4A slip includes an amount in Box 105, but the CRA requires you to identify what type of income it is before you can continue.
How to fix it
Go to My Forms and open your T4A - Pension and Other Income slip (use the search bar).
Scroll down to the Other boxes section.
Find the field labeled What type of income is it?
Select the appropriate income type from the dropdown menu.
Click Next to save your changes.
Common Box 105 income types
Depending on your T4A slip, you may see options such as:
Scholarships etc. (full-time)
Scholarships etc. (part-time)
Post-doctoral fellowship
Research grant
Artist's grant
Choose the option that matches the description provided by the organization that issued your T4A slip.
Why this is required
Box 105 can report different types of educational funding, grants, or awards. The CRA applies different tax rules depending on the income type, so this selection is required to accurately calculate your tax return.
Still not sure which option to choose?
Check the information provided with your T4A slip by your school, employer, or organization. If you're unsure, contact the issuer of your T4A to confirm which Box 105 income type applies.
