Ways to Change Your Address with the CRA

1. Online Through CRA My Account

  • Log in to your CRA My Account.

  • Select the “Personal Profile” tab.

  • Click “Address” and choose “Change Address” to update your information.

  • Enter your new address and save the changes.

2. By Phone

  • Call the CRA’s Individual Tax Enquiries Line at 1-800-959-8281.

  • Be prepared to verify your identity by providing details such as:

    • Social Insurance Number (SIN)

    • Date of birth

    • Most recent tax return details

3. By Mail

  • Send a written request to your nearest tax centre.

  • Include:

    • Your full name

    • Social Insurance Number (SIN)

    • Old address and new address

    • Your signature

  • You can use Form RC325 (Address Change Request) for convenience.

4. On Your Tax Return

  • Update your address directly on your tax return before submitting it to the CRA.

Important Notes

  • Ensure your address is updated before the tax filing season to avoid delays in processing your return.

  • If you receive benefits like the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) or GST/HST Credit, updating your address ensures uninterrupted payments.

  • If you have a CRA My Account, changes made online are processed almost immediately.

Why This Matters

Keeping your address current with the CRA prevents missed correspondence, late tax filings, or interrupted benefit payments.
