When preparing a tax return, it's important to ensure all client details are accurate. A common scenario occurs when you initially indicate that a client has dependents but later find out they do not.
In CloudTax EFILE, making this correction is simple.
How to Remove Dependents from a Client’s Return
If you need to update a client’s information to indicate that they have no dependents, follow these steps:
Open the Client’s Return – Navigate to the tax return where the dependents need to be removed.
Go to the Client’s Profile – In the top right corner, click on the client's name to access their profile settings.
Update Dependents Status – Find the question "Do you have dependents?" and select "NO" to indicate that the client does not have dependents.
Save the Changes – Click NEXT to confirm and save the updated information.
