As a tax professional using CloudTax EFILE, branding your client portal with your own custom domain can enhance credibility and create a seamless experience for your clients. To achieve this, you’ll need to map your custom domain by updating your DNS settings. Follow this step-by-step guide to set up domain mapping for your CloudTax EFILE portal.

Why Use a Custom Domain for Your EFILE Portal?

A custom domain allows you to brand your CloudTax EFILE portal, making it more professional and recognizable to your clients. Instead of directing clients to a generic CloudTax subdomain, they can access your services through a branded web address, reinforcing trust and credibility.

Step 1: Update Your Domain’s DNS Settings

To map your custom domain, you’ll need to update your DNS settings through your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, or any provider where your domain is registered).

Add a CNAME Record

  1. Log in to your domain registrar's website.

  2. Navigate to the DNS settings or Domain Management section.

  3. Add a CNAME record with the following details:

    • Name (or Host/Alias): portal

    • Value (or Points To): _portal_.cpahub.ca

    • TTL (Time to Live): Set to default or 600 seconds

  4. Save the changes and allow some time for DNS propagation. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours, depending on your registrar.

Step 2: Configure Your Custom Domain in CloudTax

Once your DNS settings are updated, you need to complete the configuration in CloudTax.

  1. Log in to your CloudTax account.

  2. Navigate to the Dashboard.

  3. Click on Settings.

  4. Locate the Custom Domain section.

  5. Enter your domain (portal.yourdomain.com).

  6. Save the changes.

Step 3: Verify and Test

After completing the setup:

  • Try accessing your EFILE portal using the custom domain.

  • If you face issues, double-check your CNAME settings or contact CloudTax support.
